fota-19-2Following a successful 2013 C-SIGMA IV  hosted in Cork by National Space Centre, the Japanese Coastguard (JCG) in conjunction with the Ocean Policy Research Foundation (OPRF) and supported by Japans National Aerospace Agency,  (JAXA) is set to host C-SIGMA V in Japan.  The workshop will take place in December 2014.

C-SIGMA is an international initiative intended to foster wider cooperation and exchange in the use of and access to satellite based maritime surveillance information at global level.

C-SIGMA workshops are key to the C-SIGMA project.  Participants from organisations across the globe come together to advance plans for integration of existing satellite resources into real maritime benefits.

Four workshops have been held to date in the following locations:

C-SIGMA I:  21-23 June 2011, ESRIN, Frascati, Italy

C-SIGMA II: 16 – 18 May 2012, NURC, La Spezia, Italy

C-SIGMA III:  7 – 8 November 2012, Canadian Embassy, Washington, USA

C-SIGMA IV: 26 – 29 June 2013
