The European Satellite Navigation IDEAS Competition submission phase is now complete, with 14 Irish entries submitted to the first dedicated Irish Regional Challenge.

The European Satellite Navigation Competition is a prestigious global ideas competition, with a prize fund worth in the region of €1m. Irish entries until this year had to be submitted via the UK or another region. With a dedicated Irish Regional Challenge for 2012, sponsored by National Space Centre, entries have more than doubled from 2011.

The Irish winner will be announced in September, pending a review of the Ideas Database by the Irish expert panel, which includes both industry experts and representatives from the research community.

The Irish Regional Challenge winner will go forward to compete for the title of Galileo Master. This will be the first time an Irish representative will go forward to compete for this title and the final judging panel will decide the overall winner in Munich on the 26th October.

Irish entries will also be considered for the Special Prizes and Prototyping Prizes available through the competition, increasing the opportunities for Irish entries to be realised.
