Awards Ceremony in Munich 2012

It has been a busy few months at National Space Centre with the launch of the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC), the installation of a new radome onsite for exactEarth and preparation for the exciting C-Sigma Conference in June well underway.

With the deadline of 30 June for entry to ESNC fast approaching, National Space Centre is still working hard to get the word out about the competition and offer support for entrants. It is a great opportunity for anybody with a business idea that involves satellite navigation.

The competition has received nationwide coverage in some top online newspapers including the journal.ie and siliconrepublic.com. We had a great launch event, attended by Minister of State for Science and Innovation, Seán Sherlock, in the St Stephen’s Green and Hibernian Club last week.

At the moment several entries have been submitted but there is plenty of time to get your entry in! The application fields are extremely broad and include:

  • Smart Moving
  • Safety and Security
  • Public and Social Services
  • Mobile Location Based Services
  • Industry Application
  • High Precision

The winner will receive an incubation programme with the National Space Centre, testing facilities and technical support and a range of other benefits. The Rubicon Centre in Cork Institute of Technology and Arclabs in Waterford Institute of Technology are also offering incubation spaces as part of the prize. On top of this the winner will go on to represent Ireland at the European finals in Germany and will have a chance to win the title of Galileo Master and the €10,000 overall prize.

Visit the Galileo Masters website for more information on how to enter.
