National Space Centre has joined the Green Button Campaign to save wasted energy and costs incurred when PC’s are left on standby.
The Green Button campaign, from Energy Watch IT, installs green buttons on each PC in the office, allowing automation of shutdown and hibernation of all PC’s when not in use, saving documents and work in progress automatically. The green button on each PC also allows users to implement independently of automation on leaving desks, and to view realtime savings on each PC.
Aside of the cash savings (currently about 55 Euro per PC annually) carbon savings achieved motivate staff and management towards continued environmental awareness and responsibility.
