UK Space Agency representatives visited National Space Centre’s headquarters at Elfordstown Earthsation for the first UK & Ireland Space Collaboration Workshop, held Monday 17 September, 2012.

The workshop, hosted by National Space Centre, brings representatives from research organisations, space and astronomy sector industries, and third level institutions together to kick-start discussions for joint space projects between Ireland and the UK.

Speaking at the Workshop, Salah Ahmed, UK Space Agency said “The UK and Ireland have a unique opportunity to explore collaboration in space research, innovation and products/services development resulting from a strong emphasis and platform of scientific excellence across the EU.  Both parties have keen interest in the benefits acquired from space technologies and look to build effective relationships in this cause.

These discussions are particularly important in view of forthcoming discussions on EU research and innovation measures after 2014 which could lead to more funding for EU space activity”
